Program for Wellbeing and Sustainability (PWS)

WASH

Introduction

This is PWS’s WASH initiative on ensuring access to clean water, and sanitation facilities, and promotion of hygiene practices. The program is in line with the guidelines of the UN-SDG-6, stressing on availability and sustainable management of water, and sanitation for all.

WASH is a basic requirement of life. The lack of WASH facilities is a lack of access to water and sanitation. Such a situation is a form of deprivation that threatens life, destroys opportunity, and undermines human dignity. Investing in this sector is a development-oriented strategy that yields socio-economic benefits in terms of improved health status, quality of labor force, and reduced burden-of disease.

Program objectives

  • Develop and implement WASH interventions to contribute to achieving universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
  • Develop and implement interventions for access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation with a focus on women and girls in vulnerable situations.
  • Adopt ways and means to address water scarcity.
